Family Petitions

USCIS I-130

Citizens and permanent residents can petition for relatives. We prepare your Form I-130 and stay with you until your relative gets their green card.

Who this is for

  • Citizens: spouse, children, parents (if you are 21+) and siblings (if you are 21+)
  • Permanent residents: spouse and unmarried children

How long does it take?

Immediate relatives of citizens (spouses, unmarried children under 21 and parents) don’t wait for a visa. All other categories wait according to the Visa Bulletin, and for Mexico the wait can be many years. We explain your priority date and how to track it.

After the petition

When a visa is available, your relative can adjust status in the U.S. or go through consular processing abroad.

What happened to “Parole in Place” for spouses?

The program for spouses of U.S. citizens (“Keeping Families Together”) was struck down by a federal court in November 2024 and USCIS no longer accepts applications. If you are married to a citizen and entered without inspection, there may still be options, such as a family petition with an I-601A provisional waiver. Book a consultation to review your case.
